David Bellin

David Bellin is currently manager of Buddha LLC, a socially responsible consulting and development venture.  He also contracts as a technology consultant and trainer, especially in the areas of web related information and commerce.

David Bellin has worked as an employee, partner, and owner in enterprises including a data processing service bureau, a turnkey OEM, and a custom programming and software maintenance organization.  He consults internationally on appropriate uses of Internet technology for nonprofit and international organizations.  As the Director of Graduate Studies at NC A&T State University, he developed the MS program from inception in 1993 to an enrollment of 90+ students with substantial funding and national recognition by the end of 1999.

Dr. Bellin has extensive international experience, both long and short term.  Presented with two U.S. Congress Fulbright Awards, David spent three months in Central America and six months in Nepal.  Several times a year he does pro-bono work overseas, mostly in Latin America, for technology related needs of development groups that have included co-operatives, government ministries, and non-governmental organizations.  He is fluent in English and Spanish, and is of Dutch and American heritage.

A past director of Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, he has served on the program committee of numerous professional conferences.  Combining broad interests in science and society, his doctoral dissertation "Information Commodities and the Production Process: How the Introduction of CASE Tools Affects the Software Development Life Cycle" was completed at City University of New York.  As an instructor both within academia and in commercial courses, he teaches in the areas of Software Metrics, Object Oriented Analysis, and the social implications of current technology.  As a university professor working mainly with under-represented populations, he consistently receives high student ratings.  Dr. Bellin holds the Certificate in Data Processing and Certified Office Automation Professional designations, as well as certifications from Microsoft Corporation and ParcPlace Systems, a HAM radio license, and is a certified locksmith.  He holds a real estate Broker's license in North Carolina and is active in the non-profit community working on affordable housing and other issues.
